NorsePlay at Southwest Frith Moot 2025!

This marks the seventh year NorsePlay has attended the renowned Southwest Frith Moot!

[note that orange NorsePlay banner adorning the ramada-hof's sacred central pillar!]

Southwest Frith Moot is the longstanding annual regional Ásatrú/Heathen gathering hosted by Arizona's Wanderer Kindred's Chieftain Vince & Gythia Dani, which is held at a varying campsite, this year's June event again being up at a campground in the Coconino National Forest.

[NorsePlay might bring the open table games, but it's Vince that brings the matchless Odinic knowledge!]

Compared to last year's far more organic SFM, this year's had a great concrete schedule, plus a huge list of topics to choose from for initial lecturing & subsequent open discussion, the latter of which went in great & varied directions from many different voices among the more vocal & inquisitive attendees.

Yes, I was tapped to handwrite the above list of discussion topics and the below SFM schedule. See how rocking fountain pens and having a dual writing degree pays off?

Improved from last year's Viking Games was the Scandinavian Stone Throw. Instead of one throw you got two, but had to bean separately distanced milk jugs, and the stones were painted an exciting red for easier hi-viz ground retrieval.

[oh, it looks easy, but those milk jugs may as well be miles away.]

Also a men's & women's 1-on-1 tug-of-war was added, which made for some brutal faceoffs.

[Mar' for the win!]

And if you won an event you got to walk away with this super sweet high-relief brass "ticket to Valhalla"!

[Valkyries, Uber me now!]

NorsePlay brought its usual excessive stack of Norse-related fiction & non-fiction books plus other donated items for the fundraiser auction. We also sold quite a few of The Path Of Odin maps (below, at left).

So if you're interested or curious about Ásatrú, Heathenry, Northern Tradition, or just fanning over Norse Mythology, do come to Southwest Frith Moot for the opportunity to share your enthusiasm over two days of camping, feasting, fun competitions, and Frith!

Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires' Norse Gods and Giants at age seven. Since then he's been fascinated by the truthful potency of Norse Mythology, passionately read & studied, embraced Ásatrú, launched the Map of Midgard project, and spearheaded the neologism/brand NorsePlay. If you have employment/opportunities in investigative mythology,  field research, or product development to offer, do contact him.
