NorsePlay built throwing axe target 2.0! 🪓🪓🪓

Given some extra time these past few months, NorsePlay has rebuilt its very own backyard lane axe target and recently hosted a private event where a guest was kind enough to surprise me with the above awesome reel!

The big improvement between this target and the last one is modularity. So at your regular pay-to-play axe lanes, boards have to be wood screwed onto the backing, which makes for eventual wearing out of the mounting surface and cost of replacement, plus there's the chance of chipping your axe's edge on the screw heads (I've done it, I've seen people do it, it happens). Here I've made a board slide-in and up from the front to drop down into a secure channel system that's to tolerance and doesn't require screws on the target boards' faces. This setup presumes the boards have consistent width, so actually measure your planks to see if they're not oversized before you leave the lumberyard, or you're going to have to do some time-consuming wood shaving (yep, this is experience talking). 📐

Since the above photo, I've added wood fronting to the metal legs and some planks across the bottom and top just in case of early/late release wild high/low throws (which did happen and was soooo glad they were on there. Safety is key, people).

While I disposed of much of target 1.0, I was glad to carry forward the wee carved bear head at the top of the wood-horned NorsePlay banner sign as a berserker-riffic design accent.

Maybe I'll go pro? In the meantime, if you actually know me, and are anywhere nearby around sundown, HMU for some axe-tion at the renewed NorsePlay Axe Throwing lane.
