Why disguise yourself, kill some farmhands, trick a couple of giants, and seduce a hot jotuness to get the Mead of Poetry when the recipe's online? Well, yeah, Gunnlöð, but this Mead of Poetry Cocktail's also an option:

1/2 ounce Brandy
1/2 ounce Blanc vermouth
1/4 ounce Honey syrup (equal parts honey and water)
3 dashes Allspice Dram
Garnish: Orange peels

Floki: The Fallen God series announced.

  Netflix will launch a second Vikings spinoff into its stream on December 1st, Floki: The Fallen God . This title alone plays with the out-there fan theory that Floki was perhaps actually an avatar of Loki , what with his advanced shipbuilding ability, unacceptable chaotic behaviour , lady charming relatively above his weight class, seeming immortality in inexplicably surviving being under a volcanic eruption, party monstering, and his role as a spiritual leader in the first series ' depiction of the colonization of Iceland. Then while reading this series of books for a year, buried in a footnote on p1182 of The Pre-Christian Religions of the North V.3 , a passing reference happens to one-eyed Gaius Julius Civilis (25 CE – c. 1st Century) as potentially being the ancient figure that Odin's one-eyed-ness is based upon! Pulling back to look at how maybe this happens, as we see the chariots roll out of the Indo-European steppes and the migration moves over time & distance from Germany to Scandinavia to the UK to Iceland, the original stories gather details from histories, other mythic traditions, and creative retellings ( NorsePlay , anyone?), so this idea that the Gods are a displaced multi-particulate apotheosis or an agglomeration of aspects from ancient figures/locales/traditions is a possibility.
